Since having my car serviced by the dealer, I've noticed a squealing sound when I turn my steering wheel with the engine on. I don't notice any difference in how the wheel turns or how the car turns. So I presume this isn't a major issue.

Is it just the power steering? Any thoughts on what may be wrong?

Thanks again!

Open the hood and have someone turn the steering for you and see if you can spot where the noise is coming from. Probably the drive belt for the pump.

It's more than likely your serpentine belt slipping and squealing. Does it happen whenever you turn the wheel, or when you turn it all the way and the wheel stops turning?

I don't know exactly what you had serviced but I would check to make sure the cover for the power steering reservoir is on properly.

I'm told they will only need 30 to 60 minutes to install. So I tell them I can wait. 4 hours later I see 4 tech's around my car scratching their heads. Not a good sign.

It's when I turn the wheel. I'll do some investigation and see if I can get more info.

Thanks!

It's definitely from the wheel.

Do you mean that the noise is in the steering column/steering wheel area?

Sorry - as far as I could tell, it was in the wheel (the one that goes round and round on the road). As opposed to the steering wheel.
