00 Duratec AC compressor replacement?

Has anyone figured out a short cut to replace the AC compressor yet? Or it is still a PIA job with removing coolant hoses?

Maybe but: young guy did mine by removing it from the top. Took out the fans. But it was '03 which has the water pump in the end of the cam shaft. Your waterpump is offset and might be in the way.

I did mine a few months ago. I just did the bypass pulley though. Take out your fans, and slide it toward the right side of the car (battery side) and out the top. I think you need to move the relay box and battery out of the way as well. It took a while to wiggle it over and out though. This "simple" way to do it is remove the fans and radiator as a lot of tutorials say to do it. In my opinion that's too much work. Just be careful not to bend the fins on the radiator!

If you are worried about damage to the fins just cut a few pieces of cardboard nd use it to protect them.

Thanks, I am not sure if I am going to give it a try out have my brother's shop do it.

It figures that the day I post this the AC compressor locks up and I am stuck at work.

If I had an 03+, I might have gave driving it home a try with out the power steering or alternater.

Yep took out the fans and did my '00 wagon from the top. Not fun but can be done.
