2000 dohc taurus p1237 and rattling noise

Yesterday when I was backing out from the parking lot, my car started to make rattling noise under the car. Car started to lost power even the engine is running and engine light on. I had to tow the car away. the car may able to move a few inches, but it had very loud rattling noise, no noise when engine running but not moving. most of time can still start the vehicle. Code is p1237, seems like fuel pump, but can fuel pump make such kind of noise?
thanks for you opinion, thanks

found using p1237 as a search term in the search box above-

P1237 Fuel Pump Secondary circuit fault.

Can you be more specific in the rattling noise, maybe an audio recording. I would make sure your torque converter to flex plate nuts are secure and haven't worn slots in the flex plate. But we need better info for a good analysis.

After letting the car sitting for a few days. Car can start and drive again, engine light and p1237 code disappeared. But the car still have noise similar that of wheel bearing but noise is more obvious at low speed then high speed. I replaced the fuel pump but the noise remain. I take it to a shop, they said the noise may come from transmission. Any suggestions?

What is the color of the ATF? When was the last time the transmission fluid and filter were changed? What type of fluid was used and was the transmission flushed or the pan dropped according to the maintenance manual?

color is pink. I just bought the vehicle half a year ago, so I suppose if the previous owner follow the maintenance schedule. the transmission fluid and filter should be changed at 100k km, now it is 170k km.

Send to three more shops.

If they all say damaged transmission, you might be able to believe that diagnosis.

You said in an earlier post that you had code P1237, and I provided a link to a thread addressing that problem- did you follow up on that?

Check the simplest problems first, unless you just want to throw money at it...
