Hello all,
The title says it all. The bull is giving me a P0402 error, which is too much flow in the egr valve. I would like to take it out and clean it. Has anyone done this and if so, what are the steps and how can i clean it? Can i use carb cleaner? As always guys, thank you! |

Usually P0401/402 are to do with a bad DPFE sensor. What you can do to test if it really is giving too much flow is pulling the vacuum tube off the top of the egr and feel for suction at idle. There should be none. If there is then you need to replace the EVR valve (EGR vacuum solenoid). 99% of the time the DPFE sensor must be replaced though.
If the EGR valve is stuck open you will have a rough idle. Is this happening to you? If you still want to clean the valve, it's two lower nuts and two upper bolts. Remove the valve. Make sure to replace the gaskets after you clean it. Sent from AutoGuide.com App

Pimp, source the Borg-Warner part#BWD EGR631 dpfe (egr pressure sensor) from Advance Auto or O'Reilly.

and the engine is nice and quiet. The check engine light comes on and off for times loke 4-5 days on and 2-3 days off.So it may sound like a DPFE sensor? |

Quick update, didn't touch the EGR valve, just changed the DPFE and so far 120+ miles, no check engine light. Thanks for tip guys.
Cheers. |
