Yeah, It all depends on the frame. I'd be surprised, if it was a head-on collision, if there wasn't.
I had a near-head on in the F-250, but I ended up driving over
the other car. Still bent the front axle, but luckily the u-bolts and axle housing took the brunt, and the frame was fine.
Blew a Pro-Comp shock as well.
Apart from that little
issue, truck didn't have any cosmetic damage apart from paint on the bumper.
As for the other guy...well, he learned to look both ways before pulling out into the street. I hope.
That being said, even with no frame or body damage on my part, and the truck being worth a fair amount more than a typical '96 model, I think they came close to totaling it out. If they hadn't found a used axle in a nearby JY
, I would have been toast. Having to replace the steering box didn't help either (force sheared the rod connecting it to the tie rods in half)
Still, you might as well wait for the insurance company. KBB values can be off as well-the official KBB value of my car is like $4400, but the bank's high book was $5300. Have hope!
