What do I need for a cable to Rod shifter conversion?

I recently bought an 89 SHO. The Cable shifter is missing a bushing under the shifter and it's very difficult, some times impossible to shift into 5th/Rev. Does someone have a parts list and pics of what I need to convert the cable shift to rod shift?

Also thinking the diffuculty shifting into 5th/Rev maybe more than just the cable shift since I had to replace the tranny with one from a salvage yard. Could this be a problem with the tranny?

Cable to Rod shift is probably impossible, as the parts are discontinued and you would have to find a 91-95 SHO to harvest.

I have had to fabricate bushings for my shifter setup. The cable that moves with front-to-back motion I drilled and tapped the ball to install a screw and washer to retain the cable.

i don't have a ball left in the shifter for front to back motion. Do you have a pic of what it is supposed to look like?

Cool

You can look here for the instructions: Rod Shifter Conversion :: SHOtimes FAQ :: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Ford Taurus SHO from the SHOTIMES mailing list.

You will need to get a rod shifter from a 91-95 SHO. We do get rod shifters from time to time.

We also have the needed parts to fix the cable shifter: Drivetrain- Rod Shifter SHO Source - SHO Source
