I had a 96 sable and it required only 1 working key to program another. Also you cant use a hardware clone key to program a ford key I tried it and it dont work!

Clone blanks for PATS I weren't necessary since one could program the second key oneself. I went back to my old key blank manual and double checked, looks as if the Sable did have PATS optional.

I only have one key and I need to make a second so I dont have to leave my keys at the house while I'm at work............ I dont care about more than 2 keys so maybe I should just find someone that can clone me a key

I just got the same issue for my 2000 Taurus and the key is chipped!

The walmart can only provide you with a duplicated chipped key and they don't carry all the models. So it's better just get a master chipped key from a local locksmith. I got my key in Chicago for $50. Then buy a replacement key from ebay for $10 and you can create your third key under $1 extra with two different master chipped key.
