Bell CHIMER quit, does not warn if lights are on . - Taurus Car Club of America : Ford Taurus Forum

Any one know what to check to get the Ding Ding Ding working again if you shut car off and jump out and the Chimer does not warn you you left your lights on.

Sucks jumping the car ..twice a week ( My wife is to blame.. Mo I have do it too.

Really need this dumby bell to work.
Thnaks in advance, if someone can point me in the right tshooting steps.

Just develop the habit of checking the light switch when you get out or look back at the car as you walk away.

It really should chime at you. Does it chime for your seatbelt? When you put the key in and turn it on does it chime slowly? If you don't put your seatbelt on and start driving will it chime and flash the seatbelt light?

Some behavior sometimes disables the chime. Look in the owners manual.

Yes the chime chimes when seat belt is not connected and yes chimes for 10 seconds when ignition is turned to on.
But does not chime when headlights are left on and you are existing the car.

It is a 2002 Tauras.

OK well the dinger in the 02 is integrated in the fusebox/central junction box/GEM.

So it has something to do with wiring from the headlight to the above conglomerate under the dash...and this is where Jeff K, behlinla or someone else with more electrical experience can step in...

Well, it could be something with the door switch as well as the headlight switch. Does the key dinger work if you leave the keys in the ignition and open the driver's door? Does the instrument cluster backlighting all work normally with the lights on? High beams and blue indicator work?
