So all instrument lights on dash work, set belt ding works if driver side setbelt is not connected.
Normal Dings when ignition is turned to on position for 8-10 seconds. No Ding if lights left on and no chime if keys are left in ignition and drivers side door is opened with car turned off. Any ideas ? Thnaks in advance. __Joe

That sounds like a problem with the driver's door switch. Do you get a door ajar when you open it?

behlinla,
My wife has a 2000 Ford Taurus SE VIN S and she is having chime issues and I was wanting to know your take on it here since it seems you have helped many others. The chime does no longer works when the door is open, keys left in ignition, or lights on (this is the biggie, it's caused her to call triple AAA). The seat belt chime works without any issues. Any the illumination cluster is working as it should. I was thing it may be the GEM but the only issues are the chime but I know the chime itself works because of seat belt. Does this seem to point to the door switch? Oh, the only other thing not working is the rear window wiper motor but the pump works. Any idea on how to check this to see if it's a problem with the wiring or motor? And, I have physically pulled and tested every fuse in the engine compartment and under the dash. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA |

Wow, so you joined in 2006 and this is your first post? Long-time lurker eh! You must have a wagon.
So when you open the driver's door does the dome light come on or not? Does it work with the other doors (make sure it's not turned off)? If you open the driver's door with the engine running, do you get a door ajar warning light? The other doors? You should probably make a new topic for the rear wiper not working, but check for power on the black/pink wire at the motor with the key on. Also check for a ground on the solid black wire. |
