intermittent starting issue

My wife's 2003 Taurus has developed an intermittent starting issue.
Once every couple of weeks or so it will not start. It follows no pattern (as in cold/hot). Dash lights come on, but no clicking/cranking, or any other noise. Every time so far, if you turn the key 5 or six times, it will start, and then everything's fine until the next time.
The car has a new battery, alt., starter, starter relay. I checked the battery terminals and they seem fine.
Could the ignition switch itself be going out?
I read a post from maxx powers that mentioned a "known problem with the 'ign' terminal on the starter". Is this more likely?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

i had same problem with my starter a few times it kept binding up and the starter would smoke if it kept trying to start it! ended up being a problem with the teeth on my flywheel! was costly repair, but the problem was fixed.

The starter doesn't seem to be binding. When it starts (which is 99% of the time), everything is normal. I've had problems with starters in other cars, and this is different. When this one doesn't start, it just doesn't do anything. No turning over, no noises, clicks, or anything.

I have had the exact same problem as you about 5 times in the life of the car (2000-now). It is the most odd experience. It does nothing at all, no noises no nothing. I feel like there was some weird sequence of actions you could do and it would start, but usually if I just waited it would eventually work. It was bizarre.
