Default 99 Sable Duratec DOHC AC Compressor replacement?.

Hi All

I just picked up a 99 Sable with the Duratec DOHC.

Is there a Serpentine belt that I can use to bypass the AC Compressor?
Anyone know what length I could use or what part number?

I picked this up from my In-Laws, 'If I can fix it I can have it"
The symptom they said was all the electric started to shut down, sounded to me like the alternator was not charging and when the battery finally gave out it just shut down.
I pulled the Alternator out (kind of a pain!) and it tested fine.

Looking at the rest of the system the AC Compressor is locked up, which apparently is what caused the original serp belt to break.
Before throwing money into replacing any of the AC parts I would like to run the engine without the compressor to ensure there are no other gremlins causing other issues.

Anyone have any thoughts on a belt?

Thanks
Bill

Bill, bypass belt won't work on a tec, only a vulcan. Maybe a bypass pulley? You can start and idle the eng. briefly w/o the belt. Member militarydave is selling a working oem Ford compressor for $50 shipped. His thread is on here today. Might pm him if interested.

this link is a video showing how to install a by pass pulley, and removing compressor.

hope this helps. the subframe can be dropped to remove the ac pulley instead of removing in front of the fans. it is located on this forum how to do it.
