How much PAG oil to put in compressor

My 2004 Taurus A/C developed a leak and most of the oil is on my driveway. I had the refrigerant removed from the system and there was very little oil in the old compressor.

The instructions I have regarding how much oil to add depends on how much oil was in the system.

I have no idea how much oil was in the system.

Can anyone tell me how many ounces of PAG oil to add?

Thanks, appreciate the help, John aka JayKay

Entire ac system requires 7ozs. pag#46 oil divided amongst the compressor, evaporator, accumulator, condenser and whats in the lines. Thats why its important to drain old compressor into a measuring vessel. Iirc, compressor holds ~3ozs. of the total. If accumulator is replaced, hole(s) are usually drilled in it to drain and measure.
