Oh, my mighty TCCA members... I have searched and searched long and hard for the answer to this question with no avail, so please do not group me into the "newbie" class of asking a question that has been posted 13 times already! lol. But I AM a long time user, first time poster (and glad to be a member with all the help you guys have already given me).

Details: 2000 Merc Sable (Duratec, in case it matters): Flashing airbag code 3-6. I have seen postings here for other year cars with the list of codes so I am hopeful that there is an answer out there.

Thanks again,
erm

Here's the air bag codes for the 2000 Taurus.

Diagnostic Test Codes (DTCs)

While the lamp fault codes (LFCs) are an indication of a general concern in the passive restraints system, the diagnostic test codes (DTCs) are more specific. The DTCs can be retrieved from the restraints control module (RCM) with a scan tool via the data link connector (DLC).

Because an LFC may be the first indication of a system concern, the following table lists the DTCs in the numerical order of the associated LFC.

First, thanks for such a quick and in depth responce. One question though, is this a code that Autozone can pick out for me with their tool? And if so is it something that, once I know the more in depth code, would I be able to fix myself? I understand that working with the airbag system can be potentially dangerous and being at only a semi-novice experience level myself, should I just skip it and shell out the dough for a mechanic (or possibly dealer ) if need be? On that note, is it even something that I "need" to worry about? Will this effect my inspection? Obviously, problems with my airbag is 'potentially' a problem (like if I got in an accident), but how soon do I need to do something about it?

The code might be the driver side seat belt sensor if she was only occupant. Not sure on the flashes but I had a 3 4 and it was a sensor on passenger seat.
Do not know it was the correct code but when I changed the passenger seat belt out it was golden.
If I find the code I will report back~~

I believe the 3 7 is refering to issues with the passenger side airbag. You should have a shop (Dealer) read the codes and investigate. Airbags are dangerous things.

B1996 37 25 Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit Short to Battery.
B1997 37 25 Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit Short to Ground .
B1998 37 25 Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit Open.
B1999 37 25 Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low.
