Hi

I have a 2003 taurus sel with the 24 valve duratec engine. It has 27,000 miles on it City gas mileage seems to be poor. Anyone else experience similar poor fuel mileage, and is there anything that can be added to improve it

Thanks

Why is this in the suspension and handling? Unless you're car is in need of maintence then the only factor for MPG should be you're foot. And since you're car is pretty low mileage I would bet on the latter.

You say you have poor mileage and ask if we have similar.. yet you don't say what your mileage is.

Are you driving 100% city?

sorry, I think I posted in the wrong area. Anyway fuel mileage is around 17 mpg`s in town and I am not to heavy on the pedal, driver. I don`t know if this what it should get. I have only had the car a couple months

We have a 2004 SEL wagon. It has averaged 21.4 MPG over 46,000 miles since new. Mainly in town driving. And, yes, I kept track of every tank of gas I ever put in it.

There are different kinds of "in town" driving...... If you drive in very heavy traffic, and spend 30% of your time stopped at stop lights or inching along at 5 mph in heavy traffic, mid teens MPG is typical. If you drive at moderate speeds for, say, 1/2 mile between relatively brief stops / slow downs, you should be able to get low 20s MPG.
