neither driver nor passenger side door switches will unlock the doors. they lock just fine though. could it be that i need to replace the unlock relay in the fuse box? is that what the relay is for in the 1st place?

thanx for looking.

I have a similar problem... the power door locks aren't working correctly on the front and rear passenger side doors, but they work fine on the front and rear driver side doors. When I press the lock and unlock buttons (on both driver and passenger side), I can see that the locks on the passenger side move a little, but doesn't lock or unlock. Could it be a jam or something? Hopefully someone can help us both out...

exactly like mine, well sorta. none of my door will unlock w/ either driver or passenger switch, but i can hear the actuators firing and the door lock part twitches a bit. i can't see all of the actuators going bad at once.

I have no suggestions but I too have the same problem. Power is going to all 4 doors to lock/unlock and the little fobs on each door moves a little but not enough to lock/unlock. What could it be??????

In some cases, the switches could be turding out.

On mine, the gearing inside one of the motors stripped out and it doesn't unlock all the way on one door.

I guess we all have the same problem. My door lock motors move they lock the doors fine but the passenger doors dont unlock.I think it has to do something with the door rod going to the motor since it has to use more pressure to move the rod to unlock.I am gonna try and check it out more in the am.I will post results tomorrow.

This is something that has been brought up here a million times.

Kind of like whether or not the Tornado actually works.

Only in this case No one has ever come up with a definitive answer.

The locks on my 99 don't work at all anymore

My 2000 usually works fine but once in a blue moon the rear passenger door won't unlock for a day or so then starts working again.

My kids 2000 works about half the time and randomly changes which ones don't work.

I wish someone would figure it out and let us all know

Mike

Usually, when the door locks twitch but don't lock or unlock fully, and especially if you can hear them making noise, it means the actuators are faulty. Before you buy new ones tho, it's a good idea to pop the door panel off and make sure nothing else in the latch mechanism is binding that could be preventing the actuator from moving. More often than not tho, the actuator is going bad. If the relay was bad, the locks would not likely do anything at all.
