In an effort to reduce clutter in the message forums and to establish signature "etiquette," we have instituted the following signature guidelines:

1.) Images must fit within dimensions of 600 px by 200 px with a 200 KB limit per image. Images may be JPEG or GIF. You may have up to 2 images not exceeding 400 kb total.

2.) Signature text can be up to 80 characters per line with no more than 7 lines.

3.) Advertisements are only permitted in signatures by paid site supporters and vendors. Please contact a staff member for more info.

4.) Sigs and avatars will not be allowed to have images of an obscene nature. We have gotten some complaints about this issue, and the members have been PM'd notifying them. They all complied, and we appreciate the cooperation. If you are unsure of the content you are allowed to put in a sig or avatar, please email or PM it to a staff member, and we'll give you an answer ASAP.

Reasoning for this rule:

We are trying to convey ourselves as a professional site. Obscene, and/or semi-pornographic images have no place on here. In addition, many of us have families in the household. I am one. I have no desire to hide my screen from my family because of an obscene image, as I would imagine many of you would not either. If a member chooses not to comply, we will edit their sig or avatar accordingly. If there is a continual problem with a member's sig or avatar, they will be banned. I expect that it will not come to this, just a heads up of what to expect.

Feel free to PM any member of the staff with any questions or to let them know if someone's blatantly breaking the rules.

-Adam

Everyone please read the post above concerning signature sizes...we need to get alot of sigs back into acceptable limits. If your sig doesn't fit within the limits, please resize. Starting in 2 weeks, the TCCA Staff will delete any sigs over the size limits. We don't want to have to do this, so please resize if needed.

Personally, I'd get rid of the quotes. It fills up half my browser window.

Wait, only 4 lines of text allowed? Man, I don't want to have to reformat my sig again - took me forever to get it this way.

2.) Signatures can be 500 characters in length or 4 lines in length, whichever comes first. The 4 lines of text is variable among different screen resolutions. We are imposing a 4-line limit based on an 800x600 resolution screen. You may add this text in addition to a picture that follows the guidelines above.[/b]
You have no image in your sig...so you are OK. You can have a 600 x 120 image and 4 lines of text...but images shouldn't be more than 600 x 120 even if you have no text. If you have no image...than 8 or 10 lines of text would be alright as long as it isn't giant text!

Quotes and text aren't as big of an issue as the giant sig images are. The big sig pics suck up bandwidth, slow connections and distract from the posts' content. Uniform sig sizes also make the place look more professional an appealing to everyone! If you are unsure of your sig, post here for us to see or PM a staff member for an opinion.

Does the 50kb limit apply just for uploads or is it linking too? I think mine is 60kb total.

The 50kb limit is to be used as a guide line...it won't be enforced unless some one abuses it and has a rather large, animated sig that is noticeably slowing everything down.

Yours isn't bad at all...

Guys, don't forget about resizing you're sigs! If your sig is too BIG, you have until Oct. 29th, 2007 to get your sigs into posted limits. Otherwise we will have to delete your sig!
