I have a 2007 Taurus with day time running head lights.
How can I deactivate them while driving? The car was a fleet vehicle, as all 07s were, except for Canada. I did push 1 click on the emergency foot break, the head lights went out, but the chimer drove me crazy

If you take it to the dealer they should be able to disable the DRL in the SJB software. They just go in with their scan tool and change the setting.

As far as I know, yes. I don't think there's a DRL module or anything like there used to be in the past. It's all controlled in the SJB, so you can't modify anything electrically to get them to not turn on (unless you fool it like with parking brake). I know it's a trip to the dealer and some big sum of money for a two minute fix, but that's how it has to be done.
If you know someone who works at a dealer, they might be able to do it for you. Some non-dealer shops have Ford scan tools, but I'm not sure how you would find out other than calling around. Some outfits specialize in programming PCMs, so they would be able to do it. Basically you should ask if they can reprogram a Ford PCM or not. |

Just curious, what makes you want to deactivate the running lights?

Number 1=I like to drive with just my parking lights on, can't do that.
Number 2=Bulb life is shortened with day time head lights. Number 3=I don't need a car manufacturer telling me when my head lights should be on.

Confirm with local law enforcement about DRL laws. Different places have different laws. Often based on year of car and what level of the lighting system should be on when the car is in motion.

Are you trying to say that if a person turns off his day time running head lights, that person could be breaking the law? Shirley, you are not trying to say that?
