I have a 2008 Taurus, build date of 8-01-2008, and I purchased two key fobs from eBay (New Set of 2 Genuine FoMoCo Ford Lincoln Keyless Entry Remote Fob 8S4Z 15K601A | eBay) I was able to program these two fobs without any issues. According to the owners manual, my vehicle originally came with IKT, so I decided that I would purchase two IKT's ( 2 Remote Key for Ford 80 Bit Head Keyless Entry Transmitter Ha Uncut Blade 4 BU | eBay) The issue is that they wont program. When I program the two fobs the locks cycle as described however, when I attempt to program the IKT's the horn honks and the remotes wont program. So I'm thinking that maybe due to my vehicle being an early 2008 build that the electronics are from the old Taurus's

Any thoughts??

Programming spare keys
You can program your own Integrated Keyhead Transmitters or standard
SecuriLock™ coded keys to your vehicle. This procedure will program
both the engine immobilizer keycode and the remote entry transmitter
portion of the IKT to your vehicle. Note: A maximum of eight coded
keys can be programmed to your vehicle; only four of these eight can be
IKTs with remote entry functionality.
Tips:
• Only use Integrated Keyhead Transmitters (IKTs) or standard
SecuriLock™ keys.
• You must have two previously programmed coded keys (keys that
already operate your vehicle’s engine) and the new unprogrammed
key(s) readily accessible.
• If two previously programmed coded keys are not available, you must
take your vehicle to your authorized dealer to have the spare key(s)
programmed.
Please read and understand the
entire procedure before you begin.
1. Insert the first previously
programmed coded key into the
ignition.
2. Turn the ignition from the 1 (LOCK) position to the 3 (RUN) position.
Keep the ignition in the 3 (RUN) position for at least three seconds, but
no more than 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition to the 1 (LOCK) position and remove the first coded
key from the ignition.
4. Within ten seconds of turning the ignition to the 1 (LOCK) position,
insert the second previously coded key into the ignition.
5. Turn the ignition from the 1 (LOCK) position to the 3 (RUN) position.
Keep the ignition in the 3 (RUN) position for at least three seconds, but
no more than 10 seconds.
6. Turn the ignition to the 1 (LOCK) position and remove the second
previously programmed coded key from the ignition.
7. Within twenty seconds of turning the ignition to the 1 (LOCK)
position and removing the previously programmed coded key, insert the
new unprogrammed key (new key/valet key) into the ignition.
8. Turn the ignition from the 1 (LOCK) position to the 3 (RUN) position.
Keep the ignition in the 3 (RUN) position for at least six seconds.
9. Remove the newly programmed coded key from the ignition.
If the key has been successfully programmed it will start the vehicle’s
engine and will operate the remote entry system (if the new key is an
Integrated Keyhead Transmitter). The theft indicator light will illuminate
for three seconds and then go out to indicate successful programming.
If the key was not successfully programmed, it will not start your
vehicle’s engine and/or will not operate the remote entry features. The
theft indicator light may flash on and off. Wait 20 seconds and you may
repeat Steps 1 through 8. If failure repeats, bring your vehicle to your
authorized dealer to have the new key(s) programmed.
To program additional new unprogrammed key(s), wait twenty seconds
and then repeat this procedure from Step 1.

Success, well almost... So I took my two new OEM IKT's to a local locksmith who cut and programmed them to my vehicle. The IKT's start the vehicle and the remotes all function as designed.. HOWEVER, a few seconds after the key is inserted and the vehicle is started I get a display that reads "INTKEY COULD NOT PROGRAM" The vehicle runs fine and the remote works fine any ideas??

I had the same exact issue with my 2008 Taurus also. When I bought the car, it came with only one IKT key. There is a technical service bulletin for that problem. It is TSB 08-11-10. The instrument cluster has to be updated to the latest software, in order to correctly add those IKT keys to your car. Once I had that cluster update done, I never had a problem again with it. I now have three IKT keys working with my car currently. Also, check out this video, I was the first one that commented in that video with the tech. I had the dealer where I bought the car do the update, and there was no charge for taking care of the TSB.

They didn't charge me anything to do it. The salesman that sold me my car also payed for my second new IKT out of his pocket. The previous owner wasn't able to provide a second IKT key. They even tried before doing taking of the TSB to mate the second new IKT key up to the car. They had no luck either. Just got the horn beep and the same cluster message. The car would start with the second IKT key, but had no button functions. I did more research at home and found out about the TSB from YouTube. I brought that information back to them and set up an appointment to have it taken care of. Like I said, there was no charge for taking care of the TSB for me. I left there with two fully functional keys after that TSB was fixed. Later, I bought my third IKT key from another closer to home dealership. I had it cut there and I left there and parked in a lot and did the programming part myself. I was happy it worked perfectly on the first try. Also, was able to get a newer style IKT key for my third one. The part number is 164-R8073. The button part is a newer/later style but, works like a charm!
