Sync drops iPod - Taurus Car Club of America : Ford Taurus Forum

I have a 160gb classic ipod, and when I connect it to my sync, it works fine and starts playing the song I left off at while playing my ipod at work. Then, after I try to switch a song, or use a voice command, it just says usb empty and drops the ipod. I am getting really annoyed. It never used to do this. Also, it just says usb empty when I try to select the source again. It works again after I unplug and plug it back in. Just drops it again after I try to switch a song. I went and pulled my sync fuse to force a restart and nothing doing. Anyone else have any trouble with an ipod? Not an iphone over bluetooth. I cant even google my issue because google is like "sync drops ipod...you must mean sync wont connect your iphone." and I only get results for that.

I had a 30gb classic. it continued to do this to me too. I just bought a third gen iPod touch off craigslist for 150 and it connects and stays connected. Seems to be the classics that do this. Not much help but it solved my problem. also connects faster. the classic would take like 2 minutes sometimes.

My answer: microsoft technology + apple product = uh-oh!

Have a friend with a 2011 flex titanium (or is it platinum) with sync, I think the remedied it by manually switching songs. This was a while ago, so I don't even remember. Just blutooth it to your iphone like google says!

I also have a 160gb Classic with nearly 3000 songs, 10 movies, etc. Although it works reasonably well it would have to go through its "indexing" 3 or 4 minutes each time after I would turn off/on the ignition.

I connected a 16gb Nano (6th gen) with 2500 songs and the response is seconds now instead of minutes.

Part of that could be because the 160gb uses a mechanical drive and the 16gb is flash memory. Flash memory is much faster than mechanical drives. Even if it was a 160gb flash stick it would still be way faster.

have you guys tried to update the sync?... go to syncmyride.com. my was droppin my HTC phone and ipod too. i went to syncemyride. updated it. some u can update via a jump drive but mine said i had to take it into service to get the latest update. if u gotta take urs to service make sure to print out the paper to show the dealer. cuz they dont kno whats goin on.

I have my iPod connected by USB cable and it works fine...just a thought to give it a try.
