Key Fob and Interior lights question

I have a 2001 Taurus 3.0 liter DOHC durate c. I have two problems. I have a key fob that works with my car and my dad's car. Sometimes the key fob doesn't work for my car. Is there anyway to reset the fob so I can just set it to go to my car. And how to get it to work every time. Also if I leave my headlights on after I turn my car off and open the door the interior lights do not come on and there is no beeping sound letting me know the lights are still on. What can I do to fix that. Thank you on advance

Try spraying WD40 or liquid wrench
into your driver side door latch (good idea to do all 4 of them periodically)

the door ajar switch embeded inside the latch likes to get stuck
due to the lithum grease drying out over the years

don't know about the keyfob question

Owner Manuals | fleet.ford.com

Maybe replace the battery and then, reset your car to match the fob. Directions are in the owners guide.

The car learns the fob which has a random code set at the fob factory. It is a pain having a fob working 2 cars is the cars are ever near each other.
New fobs online are not expensive.
