Looking for a co-worker. Trying to find out if a headlamp switch out of a 1997 taurus would work in a 2001. Both are regular switches, no autolamp feature. the co-worker is looking for a switch for his 2001 and I have one out of a 1997. The only difference would be the color of the light that I can think of, just not sure of the connection.

Hmmm. I could be wrong but I though they were different. Wouldn't you have to check the socket connections? Anyone with schematics? Good thing there's millions of Taurus GEN4 headlight switches in the yards. Then again.....your in Canada? How the availability of yards with bulls up there?

Finding a taurus in a junk yard is a dime a dozen kind of thing. I tried looking, but have yet to find a pin-out/connector view of the plug and harness to compare. Oh well, the guy found one from a junk yard anyways.

Too late now, but you can only use a Gen 3 headlight switch in a Gen 3, and a Gen 4 headlight switch only works in a Gen 4.
Future reference for anyone. Connectors are different.
