I got a real gremlin. First, I have an '03 SES. Added a JBL, sub, and changer out of a '96 SHO.
So on a trip today, my radio was off. It turned on by itself. I turned it off. About 4 minutes later, it turned itself on. This happened several more times. So I left it on. Was listening to talk radion on an AM station. All of a sudden, it switched to CD. I changed it back to AM. Did this again and again, maybe 5 times. Then it held the AM station until I got home. So the question is, the head unit or the amp is the problem? Or do I have other issues? |

You might be getting some kind of noise on the signal lines between the ICP and the RCU. Inspect your installation.
Could also be that the ICP is just going bad, so you might try swapping it out with a junkyard unit. |

So it could be the ICP. Thanks, will check out the install. If it is the ICP, it will be hard to find another JBL unit. Guess I might just put the Mach unit back in and see what happens.

What is the difference between the ICP and the RCU? I have the JBL RCU which was what I was thinking of when I posted above...

ICP = Integrated Control Panel (the button panel and display up front)
RCU = Rear Control Unit (the actual tuner and amplifier unit in the trunk) |
