My speaker blew last week and I guess it's time for a replacement, i'm not sure if I have the MACH RCU or not, i'll go check tomorrow, but I wanted to know what power specifications I would need for the new speakers, besides the size. How much RMS can I get per speaker with the standard RCU and the MACH? I don't want to buy something that will take too much power and heat up. Hopefully someone can help, thank you

I'm not sure about the speakers you should buy, but you can tell if you have the Mach system by whether or not you have tweeter speakers mounted on the inside front doors, opposite the side mirrors, in the sail panel.

I am pretty sure Mach puts out 20w rms to each speaker. Tweeters share off of the door speakers. Stock system puts out 4w rms.

Okay so I don't have the MACH RCU, but will these speakers work with the standard RCU?

They say Handles up to 250W peak power (40W RMS), is that peak RMS or overall?

I don't think there is a speaker that will be fully happy with a 5watt RMS amplifier. Just buy whatever is the cheapest, unless you have plans to have a better amplifier. I'd suggest to buy an Infinity Reference 6x8 coaxial speaker. They're often pretty cheap on amazon. These have lower impedance than most other speakers, so hopefully it will pull a bit more power from the amplifier. I have tried once a Pioneer A-series coaxial speaker, and was disappointed with it. Its high frequencies sounded worse than the _stock_ Ford speaker _without_ tweeter..

If your factory speakers blew let me sell you (for $1 plus shipping each) my old but working factory speakers.

With the stock RCU upgrading to better speakers will yield no increase in sound quality. The amount of power is so low that only with very low volume levels would it sound better with different speakers.

I don't mean to try to sell you everything haha, but I have a Mach RCU sitting in my garage I will be happy to sell as well. It's just plug n' play, so it's a very easy install for WAY better sound.

^^+1^^ Keep them stock unless your ready for a true over haul. Rediculously under powered speakers sound bad. If not go "Infinity". Infinity over pioneer any day.

Thought about it and I might just replace the blown speaker with a factory one since my wallet is begging for some money. The 1996 taurus speaker is the same as a 2002 right?
