Sorry for this question, but my memory has failed me as I haven't had to be concerned about this for a while. I am gonig to be changing out the stereo in my new aquired 2005 Taurus. I haven't chose a deck yet, but I am wondering what is the best name for a dash kit to install? I am going to start working on it when the summer hits and want to buy the stuff over the next few months to get it. I am going to transfer the MTX subs and amp from my '97 into the '05. I'm leaving the everything else as is in the '97 as this will be driven in the winter and the 2005 will be used for the summer.
Are Scoche and Metra the only kits made? And again what would the best choice? And one last question regarding the air bag light. Am I right in thinking that a resistor has to be wired in to keep the SRS light off? I think I remember reading that from a previous topic a long while ago. Thanks for the help adn information.

I have the Metra and am happy with it, but I have heard good things about both kits.

There's a third brand of kit out there, I forget their name though. Otherwise, those two are the only ones out there.
There is a kit specific to the 2004-7 Taurus for the passenger air bag light. If your 05 has EATC, there's a kit out there for it as well.

Thanks, mine is just the manual controls. I seen the kits for the EATC. I see a metra kit on amazon for about $83.56 with free shipping to my house. Looked on Ebay and it's going to be the same price pretty much when I factor shipping into it.

I've got one of the Metra kits, new in the box. I bought it for my 2004 Sable, but then decided to install a factory MACH unit with CD instead. I'll sell it to you if you're interested.

Have another question. I'm uncertain on which way I'm going to go now. I leaning toward a mach RCU, but shipping is a little much. That said it is less then an aftermarket setup. I am looking around and really the only kits I can find for cars with the airbag setup is through metra. The problem I have is the look of them is cheap. I found another kit that looks similar to the one I had in my '97 where the HVAC controls were recessed slightly and on a panel of there own. I'll see about finding a picture of what I mean. They look a little better, but I cannot find any that deal with the airbag light. I want to upgrade my stereo and add my subs back, so if I keep the factory setup and go with a mach setup, I would want a good quality RCA converter.
Here is a picture of the dash kit that I found a little nicer looking. Not a huge difference, but I find the HVAC controls a little more pleasing.

^^^I just checked your profile and looked through your album, only picture I seen was a sail speaker. Would you be able to post a picture of the kit installed and a radio installed into it. I'm trying to find a decent picture of the metra kit installed to see how it woul look in the taurus.
Thanks
