I am doing the Mach Stereo upgrade on my car. I originally pulled the Mach RCU from an 02 wagon and got the door tweaters from that car as well. I just modified my original stock RCU bracket to hold the Mach one as I got it out of a wagon. I went back yesterday to get the wiring harness plugs for the tweaters and decided to pull the door speakers as well. I believe I had read that the door speakers were the same between the standard stereo and the Mach system. In this case I found they were not. The Mach ones have some sort of cross over or filter wired directly into the speaker. In testing them they do sound different. The mach ones have less bass and do not sound so muddy. They make for clearer vocals and I like them. I also did some sound deadening material on the door skins and that seams like a worthwhile improvement as well. I can post up the two different part numbers for those speakers if anyone is interested. Seemed well worth it for the low cost of speakers from the junk yard.

Can you post up a picture of these speakers too? I am in disbelief...In my many many times of ripping cars with Mach apart at junkyards, never once has there been any type of speaker difference in the doors or deck. The Mach system components included the RCU, 2 sail tweeters, a CD changer, and a head unit with a tape deck. Never have there been any different speakers unless added otherwise by a PO.

Actually Tom is on to something. I remember when I swapped out my factory speakers (car had MACH from the factory) for some Pioneers, the front 2 speakers had something on them that the rear 2 did not.

Since when did the Mach have any upgraded 6X8s? Now I am really curious.
But you'd think by now that someone would have recognized this... *Subscribed*

I will get back to you on photos. I have to figure that out for this site. If anyone want to share some quick info on that fire away. I used to use webshots all the time for that but they have changed how it works. For the moment here is the part number off the Mach speakers I took out of the 02 Wagon. They were different for the doors then in the rear. YF1F-18808-AC The rear ones look like the ones I took out of my 2006.

When I replace my mach speakers I'll let you know if mine have them. Mine came stock from the factory.

I have personally pulled 3 JBL Mach Sub woofer systems from Sables and Taurus. The door speakers do have crossovers as does the rear sub woofer. The rear deck speakers do not have a crossover, but the magnets are larger than stock. The tweeters are a little larger too. All the speakers are marked with color coded stickers and they all say JBL.

Yes the JBL speakers for the 1996 M.Y. had different speakers. Keep in mind JBL (1996, only) is separate from Mach (1997+). I also heard something about 1997 having a different part number for the Mach speakers. What we are trying to figure out is if 1998-2007** Speakers for Mach are the same for both stock audio systems. There is suspicion of an addition to at least the door speakers at this point.
**It is rare to see Mach Audio equipped in any car that is newer than a 2004 built 2005 model year SEL with high specs since most built later than this were just for fleets. I have never seen Mach in a 2006 or 2007 SEL unless it was added. Our 2005 SEL does not have Mach either.
