2005 Sable SJB/GEM Trouble?

Just bought a 2005 Sable that I am having weird problems with. When it is cold outside the interior lights and windows won't work when you first enter the car. They start working a few seconds/minutes later or when you start the car. I believe it is related to the battery saver relay not coming alive when "tickeled" by the normal inputs (door switches, remote entry, etc.) I have seen posts that indicate this may be a GEM problem. I am having trouble determining if this 2005 has the GEM and SJB as the same part. If not, is the problem with the SJB (which seems to be listed as an alarm/entry module). I have a full factory manual set coming....I have come up with a P/n for the SJB (5F1Z 15604 C) but not sure if that is what I need.....

The GEM/CJB were combined into 1 assembly, called as you put it, the SJB. So you are on the hunt for the right part!

OK.... so an additonal question. If I buy the SJB new with the appropriate P/N for NO DRL and with keyless entry, will it need to be programmed by the dealer or am I good to go?

You are good to go. The key's programming is done through the PCM, not the SJB. You will have to reprogram your clicker remotes. And if your car has a keypad on the door handle, you will have anew master code (write the code printed on the box before install).

Self serve junkyards charge anywhere from 25-50 for the SJB. LKQ Self Serve gives a 30 day warranty on everything.

Which part???

From reading here on this forum I believe I need to buy a new SJB but getting the right one depends on knowing the date of manufacture. How do I determine that from the VIN ?

You don't, unless you have a chart of the sequential build number assembly dates. (The VIN is limited to the model year code character, 10th place in the VIN.) Look in the door jambs for the build decal, it'll be on that along with the paint and trim codes.

OK, Here's the deal...

Several months ago my '05 Taurus just decided to quit responding to the remote key fobs. I first tried batteries and even tried new key fobs. The programming sequence worked but they still did not work to unlock or lock the doors, open the trunk lid or set off the panic alarm. Also the car occassionally fails to start as if an uncoded key were being used. To remedy that problem I simply have to turn the ignition off and back on. Then it will start. Another problem is that the battery will run down in about foiur days unless I unhook the battery. I have a heavy duty resistance load tester which I have used to test the battery several limes and the battery holds voltage even after five minutes in the tester. So, that pretty muck eliminates the battery as being a problem.

After all this and considerable research I am led to believe I have a problem with the SJB. After trying to look up which one I need, I came to find I need to know when the car was built. That is why I asked about how to find the build date. I looked where I was instructed and there is only the year and month. The date says 3/5. Unfortunately I need to know the day also. The parts I looked up specify before or after 03/04/2005. How do I get the day it was built??? Also, there are different SJBs depending on what the car is equipped with. I don't have fog lights or driving lights. I don't have a keyless entry code keypad on the door. I'm not sure if I have anti-theft. There is a panic button on the fobs that causes the horn to beep continuously. There is also small red light on the instrument panel that blinks "THEFT"

I just need to know which one of the six or so SJBs available that I need to order. I'm getting really tired of screwing around with this thing. Is there a part number on my current SJB I can use???

PLEASE HELP
