Default 2001 taurus.. theft ligh flashing... car wont crank

Hey everyone!

I thought the problem was the starter on my car. I had a mechanic come over and he bypassed the car to where it would actually crank over. My battery is fine, the radio turns on the lights come on and the windows will roll down. Can someone please help me figure out a way to bypass to where my car will start permanently? Is there a code I may enter to make it crank. I have been without a car for a week due to this and do not have money to call a tow truck so they can take it to a dealership that will upcharge me. Please.. Please.. Help! Thank you.

sounds like you have a bad pats. try locking you car with the fob and then using you key to unlock and see if that will help ( it does on some not all )

Sometimes moving the tilt steering to a different position may help. Try it on all the different positions.

Thanks for the reply. I will try that. However I forgot to mention the fact that my driver side lock near the handle seems to be jammed in and I cannot manage to lock or unlock my car from that side.

Ok I am heading out now to give it a shot thanks.

So I went outside and moved my steering wheel to all different places and the damn thing got jammed on me. Is this a security issue to where it locks up?

i would spray so lube into the lock on the door and let it sit. do nt force the key but wiggle it and turn back and forth. keep spraying and wiggling and it should free up. the tilt is stuck? ive only seen that happen once. it was from using the wheel to pull yourself up. it chipped a tooth and gummed up the works. is the wheel in the lock postion? if it is turn to relieve pressure and hope it works. just wondering have you only tried one key?

It's not supposed to jam up. That is not a security feature. That's a mechanical issue with the steering column. Here's how to remove the column shroud to see what's jamming:

How To: Removing Column Shifter

I most likely locked it by accident. And yes, since I have had this car I have only used one key on it.

In regards to my original post I still have not found a way to bypass the system to where my car would turn over. I still have faith that someone has a solution that can permanently let me turn my car on. I have tried moving the steering wheel, locking and unlocking with the fob and manually unlocking my car through the passenger side in addition to also having my starter tested. As im sure all of you can relate, the last resort would be to have my car towed and taken to a dealership where I can be upcharged.

This may be a long shot, if it is something to do with your security, you may be able to reset it by unhooking your battery for about an hour.

Edit: Unless it's mechanically locked up where you can't even turn the wheel.
