Hey, I've got the 3rd brake light on my (stock) spoiler. I see 2 wires going into it after the connection/clip, green and black. Before the clip it's Red/Green striped, and black. Which one of these is power, and is it a bad idea to splice into it?

It's a good bet that the green wire is the hot wire. Black is usually ground. Easy to check with a test light or VOM.

Just wondering why you want to tap into it?

Yeah, black is almost certainly ground. If you're gonna mess with electrical stuff on cars, you really need to get a voltmeter. You can pick one up for as little as $10 at Sears, Harbor Freight, Home Depot, etc.

Project is coming together good, so I'll let you know what's going on.
I pulled the rear spear off and painted it black. Pulled the Ford logo out, and created a Batman Begins logo to go in its place. I got a 3'' red LED strip that I want to mount behind the logo, wiring it into the 3rd brake light, creating another brakelight that backlights the batman symbol.
