A few days ago I posted a question on how to install a wire harness and this is an update. The stereo is in, the wireing guide Godspunk32 posted was quite useful and I finished it.
I was asked to some photos of the kit and I will. The kit cost me $75 on ebay and included the dash kit the harness + the security keys. What's really cool is the dash kit is actually powered and is wired right into the dimmer. So it's all lit. The other cool thing is the rear defrost switch doesn't turn off after 5 minutes once you push it down it keeps it running. till you turn it off. I used to hate having to turn it back on every 5 minutes. More pics to come. |

I went with a Kenwood and the sound on it is out of this world. Saw it at bestbuy for 579.99 found it on ebay brand new for 299. Couldn't resist. I'm also planning to wire the music keg right into my trunk. It'll give me MP3 capability off a hard drive. I refuse to buy an Ipod. It's got nothing to do with apple its just I refuse to buy anything that's a fad. Ever since MP3 players went from being called mp3 players and are now called Ipod's by the majority it makes me stay far away.
happy new year. |

looks good, nice deck!
I wish this kit manufacturers could make the plastic look a bit better tho, like make them smooth like the stock unit. You would think they would for $70+ Oh well, at least we can actually put stereos in out cars

AMEN tmonster. thats why i havent put an aftermarket head unit in my car. i see those install kits and the plastic looks way off. it doesnt even look like they attempted to make the surface texture the same. everytime i see it i think back to those cheap kits you could buy at Kmart way back when. makes me think of an old 80 something escort i had.

Update!
The defroster light when bad. when I put the pins in to pop it out to inspect the rear defrost switch not working anymore. I was greeted to a loud crunch and currently duct tape is holding the radio in. Since this company uses 2 small thin plastic that is like the plastic on the plastic hangers only thinner they snapped and now tomorrow I will install a metra kit.
