Heres another question to this topic:
I'm debating whether to do the Runner(?) lights on the side of the car. I think that's what they're called, little red ones in the back and little orange ones in the front. Anyone do these? I cant decide whether it would look good or not haha. Although i am going to be pulling all the Lights and stuff off one of my other 2 taurus, so i could just swap em back with the colored if i don't like em. Any suggestions? |

You can try doing the marker lamps. I imagine it'd look good smoked... But completely black. That way the orignal color still shows. If you blacked it out completely, I think it'd look tacky.

Yeah, i dont plan on blacking them out completely. And decided the fronts will stay the orange, cause im pretty sure they're blinkers, and having those smoked im not too sure about haha. On a side note, i just took all the light assemblies, and all that fun stuff out of the Taurus im junking... In 20 degree weather.... Never doing that again LOL |

I agree sometimes smoked tail lights look good, but you have to remember 1 important thing. In todays society when everyone is trying to put the blame on someone else, you have to be carefull. If someone hits you from behind, if its your fault or not, they are going to blame the dark tail lights as not being legal / stock and try to turn the blame onto you somehow.
![]() You always have to try and think out all the ways something can go, right or wrong.

I did just opposite. I left the reds normal, and tinted the amber. I plan on evening it out with either red/red tail lights, or tinting the amber part to match. I also took apart 98/99 style turn signals and blacked out the inner housings. And 1 very light thin layer of tint on the lens.
Here's a photo of the beast. ![]() ![]() Now I dont understand the HIDs, and the Black out rears. It totally contradicts itself. Is your kit the full out projector, ballast, etc? ...Or a plug and play bulb? If you're going for merely asthetics, I suggest doing angel eyes like mine. They catch attention very well. And they dont blind drivers like unRetrofited HID's do (a video on youtube shows how bad HID's really are in reflector style housings) Well hey! If you need a hand with Angel Eyes and housing blackouts, I'm a smart cookie, most times. Shoot me a msg! If you're going into more projector HIDs, I struggle there, but ROACH (and another fellow member I contacted, forgot the name...) is a smart man there! |

I don't thing the Blacked out tail lights will look any different whether i put in HIDs or not? Maybe i'm not understanding what your saying, i just don't understand the connection between HID and blacked out rears that would make it look bad? |

What I mean by HID's vs Black out is they totally contradict. HID's are bright bright bright, give light, hell if done right you get the color flicker. Black out is removing light. Making red orange purple or green black. When it lights up you (hopefully) have minimal light loss, but its like slapping WHITE on BLACK. And not in the so good way.
Now see, this is a good way. (Honestly, I like this look. A lot! Like, damn!) ![]() Now you can do HID's and tinting, hell you can do anything you want. I personally would like HID's and some tail light work, but difference to it I think I have (my biased opinion of what looks good) is, when lights are off, It's black. Black around. Now when lights come on, exactly opposite. Bright all around. Make any more sense? |
