Even if you COULD get the Taurus to 700....I believe you will not only have to mod the engine, tranny, final drive, computer, but, you will also have to bolster the apesh.t out of the unibody. You will never get it to hook-up FWD/RWD/AWD without twisting the body/sub-body.

To achieve those kind of numbers takes a full engine build. Bottom to top. Forged stroker kit, bigger valves, roller rockers, etc. Stock computer would have to go. You would need to go full stand alone, like the new AEM INFINITY. Tranny swap to a 5-speed would be required to go full stand alone. Then equal length drive shafts and and LSD to overcome torque steer. Heavy duty urethane motor and tranny mounts to keep things from twisting up like a pretzel. Twin turbo would be easier to make big power.

Well the current motor is still the stock Vulcan. The intake is custom in preparation of turbo. There are a few bolt ons like 1.8:1 roller rockers. I have a duplicate Vulcan motor at Morana Racing now to be built. Stroker kit first, bigger valves, etc. I hope to have it ready to swap by April. Don't know how much HP the finished product will be, but I do want to build the biggest Vulcan engine there is. I saw a turbo Vulcan Probe that made 370 whp. Saw his build sheet and there were a lot of things he didn't do or could have done better. -- The tranny is a 5 speed from an '89 Probe. Stage 1 clutch for now. Will re-gear it and add a stage 3 when the engine is done.

I decided the best way to go is to drop a different engine in there. Im thinking about this engine.
5.4L SVT SUPERCHARGED COMPLETE CRATE ENGINE ASSEMBLY -- M-6007-C54 I would have to rebuild the transmission, but thats only about 3-4k compared to the engine. |
