when was the battery monitoring system started?

not even sure i'm calling it by the right name, but the system that "monitors" the battery's age/condition and adjusts the charge accordingly, and if not reset when you swap the battery will only charge to the old level...
you know, that thingy.
was that in place on the 5th Gen cars? (08/09), or did it start with the 6th gen?

I had to hook up my charger the other day, the battery wasn't dead, just a little low, cranked a little slower, etc.(too many lunch breaks sitting in the car, engine off, radio on, charging phone, etc/ too few miles driven to recharge)

need to get it tested. (Motorcraft max 100 mo battery, date coded 03/13, installed 11/13, I bought car 01/14)
and need to know if I need to fire up forscan to reset a setting if it comes to changing batteries...

the battery is outside the 36 mo free replacement warranty, but has 100 mo pro-rated. anyone know what the standard ford prorate is after 48 of 100 mo? (the prorated discount is the ONLY reason i would consider going to the dealer for a battery)
