Hi Everyone,
I have a 2011 SEL that I just purchased used about a couple of months ago. Love the car. Recently when about to go on a trip in the mountains, I tried putting the care in Manual, but noticed that I could not put the car into gear. When I try to push the shift knob below D, it simply feels like it physically cannot be moved to M. I feel stupid asking the question but I feel like I must be missing something simple here. I assume my car has SelectShift since it has the M gear, and the steering wheel has the shift paddles. I checked the manual, websites, etc and all instruction is to simply push the shift nob to M. Things I have tried: Pushing button on side of shift knob Switching to M from P Switching to M from D Any thoughts? |

It should go right to M. If you are pressing the button in it should switch right down. I havent driven a new taurus with selectshift, but a drove a 2011 flex with it and had no problem putting it in M.
Car is under warrenty, take it to a dealer see if they can figure it out. Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App

You might have to press the button but it should go right into M. So I think you have a warranty repair to have the dealer fix.

Some dealers lock out the manual so that their "runners" can't have fun. It is possible they forgot to remove linkage lock.....just a thought.

Oooh, I didn't know about that. Does it go on the transmission, in the shift mechanism, or is it electronic? Can you enable that when you bring your car in for service?

The ones I've seen in the past are on the linkage by the TRS module...usually just clipped on.Limits the throw of the actuator. I have also seen some higher end manual sports cars have 3 and up locked out for test drives=liability issues
