Hey all,

My 2002 SEL is suffering from saggy ass. I'm planning to install a pair of Monroe Quickstruts.
I'm hoping that some of you may have attempted this and can offer a good Canadian source for the parts?
Partsource, Crappy Tire, Napa? fyi...I'm in Hamilton

I can get a pair of the quickstruts and a pair of Moog endlinks shipped up from Rock Auto for approx $410 US (includes $101 for shipping, duty and GST). Should come to appox $440 Cdn.

fyi...Thought I'd try it myself and see how it goes. If it's not too bad, I may attempt a second install on my 99SE.

How close are you to the border from Hamilton? You might save yourself the shipping fee if you can stop at a local supplier in NY state. I cross border shop all the time for car parts and never get pulled over to pay duty.

As for the struts, never changed them yet, no experience here.

They are easy to change, just the worst part of it is the pinch bolt. Hopefully it isn't seized at all. But you can buy them from Canadian Tire, Partsource, Napa, and all are pretty much the same price. Go with Crappy Tire, and you can get some money back with their money.

They are $199 or so for the rears from Partsource. good luck with crappy tire being able to find the parts to order though. They told me my car didn't have strut rod bushings, even though partsource uses the exact same system for parts.

How much are the quickstruts in the U.S I wonder?

I stopped in at my local Canadian Tire to check prices and availability. I was informed that such a part does not exist. All struts and springs are sold as individual units only......Rather than arguing, I left feeling satisfied that they lived up to their usual level of high standards.

I'll continue on and check PartSource and Napa later this week. However, I'm guessing that the best cost may be to buy in the US. RockAuto's price is $133 US each, $11.96 each for the Moog links.

Okay either something is not right in your post or you cannot add mooby...

It reads as you spent 180 on struts, and $80 on springs which makes it $260 and then on top of that it is closer to $300 with the mounts...

Parts Source quoted me $299 ea for the quickstruts. Looks like I'll be making my purchase through Rock Auto. I noticed I can save an additional 5% by using the discount codes "stickied" in the maintenance and repair forum.

Additionally,
I noticed today that Monroe is running a promotion offering a $40 rebate for the purchase of two QuickStruts. The rebate is eligible for Canada too.
info here: www.monroe.com/promo/promotions.asp

Zep: you may want to check into this!
